Legal Information
Last updated: 2 November 2026. This page sets out the legal information that we publish in connection with this website, as required by United Kingdom company, consumer, e-commerce and data protection law, together with the operating rules that apply to everyone who visits or uses the site.
1. Who Operates This Website
This website is owned, published and operated by freshtiq (referred to below as "we", "us" and "our"). freshtiq acts as the website operator for the purposes of the Electronic Commerce (EC Directive) Regulations 2002 and the Provision of Services Regulations 2009, as the trader for the purposes of the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and as the data controller for the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.
In practical terms this means that we are the party responsible for the editorial content of the site; for the courses, video material, reference guides and downloadable resources that we publish; for the technical operation, security and availability of the site; for the commercial terms on which paid training and related services are supplied; and for the lawful handling of any personal information that visitors, learners or customers submit to us through the site, by email or by telephone.
Where the site makes use of third-party services — for example video hosting, live streaming, payment processing, email delivery, customer support tooling or website analytics — those providers act either as separate controllers or as our processors under written contract. Their own terms of use and privacy notices apply to the parts of the service that they control, and we recommend that you review them before submitting personal or payment information.
2. Legal Form, Registration Details and Tax Identifiers
We are a private company limited by shares, incorporated and registered in England and Wales under the Companies Act 2006. Our details are as follows:
- Registered Company Name: freshtiq
- Company Registration Number: 03555097
- Place of Registration: England and Wales
- Registered Office Address: 1 Fairview Cottages, Beehive Road, Binfield, RG12 8TS, United Kingdom
- VAT Number: 477222243
- Company Type: Private company limited by shares
Our Registered Company Name is the name under which the company is registered at Companies House and is the operative legal name for all purposes. If any trading style, brand name or abbreviated form of our name appears on this website, in our course materials or in our correspondence, that name is used as a trading style only and does not replace the registered name of the company. Where a difference between a trading style and the registered name could be misunderstood, we identify the registered company as the contracting party.
The disclosure of these particulars is required by the Companies (Trading Disclosures) Regulations 2008, which apply to company websites, business letters, order forms and electronic communications such as email. Failure to display the required information is a criminal offence and can result in a fine both for the company and for the officers responsible. This is why our Company Registration Number, Place of Registration and Registered Office Address appear on this page and in the site-wide footer.
We are registered for Value Added Tax in the United Kingdom and our VAT Number is shown above. All prices for paid training, courses, workshops and consultancy services are quoted inclusive of UK VAT unless expressly stated otherwise at the point of sale, and a VAT invoice is issued for every taxable supply made to a business customer on request.
We do not publish the names of individual directors or officers as part of the site's standard disclosure. If the name of a director or company secretary is included anywhere in a business letter, order form or electronic communication other than as a signature or within the body text, we disclose the names of all directors of the company, in line with the Companies (Trading Disclosures) Regulations 2008.
2.1 Licences, Registrations and Compliance Schemes
Depending on the activities being carried out at any given time, we may hold or operate under a number of additional registrations that are relevant to the audiovisual production services, training and equipment handling we describe on this site. These can include producer registration and take-back obligations under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2013 for the placing on the market of electrical equipment; music licensing for the use of recorded and live music in training sessions, demonstrations and events; public liability and professional indemnity insurance; and, where relevant, premises-related permissions for the venues at which our sessions are delivered.
Content on this website is written for a professional and semi-professional audience operating in the United Kingdom. Where we describe broadcast, studio, rigging, electrical, lighting or sound engineering practice, we do so for general educational purposes. Nothing on this site is a substitute for the site-specific risk assessments, method statements, electrical certification, structural sign-off or competent-person advice that the law and good practice require before any installation, rigging or live production work is carried out.
3. Registered Office and How to Reach Us
Our Registered Office Address is 1 Fairview Cottages, Beehive Road, Binfield, RG12 8TS, United Kingdom. This is the address at which formal legal notices, service of process and official correspondence should be delivered to the company. Correspondence sent to the registered office should be addressed to the company secretary or to the director responsible for the matter in question so that it reaches the correct internal team without delay.
For day-to-day enquiries, including questions about courses, enrolments, invoices, technical support, accessibility requirements or content corrections, the quickest route is to use the contact form on our Contacts page, or to write to us at info@dramabydesign.com. You can also reach us by telephone on +44 1344 649400 during normal UK office hours, excluding public holidays. If your enquiry relates to a course you have already purchased, please include the order or invoice reference so that we can locate your record immediately.
We aim to acknowledge all written enquiries within two working days and to provide a substantive response within ten working days. Where a matter requires a formal response — for example a complaint, a data protection rights request or a legal notice — we will confirm receipt in writing and explain the timescale that applies under the relevant legislation.
3.1 Complaints
If you are unhappy with any part of our service, please contact us first at info@dramabydesign.com with a clear description of the issue and the outcome you are seeking. We handle complaints internally, in writing, and we will keep you informed of progress. If we cannot resolve a complaint to your satisfaction and you are a consumer, you may also seek free, independent advice from Citizens Advice or, where the matter concerns unfair trading practices, report it to your local authority Trading Standards service. We are not obliged to participate in an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) procedure, and we will tell you clearly if we ever agree to do so.
4. Purpose, Scope and Intended Audience of This Website
This website is an informative commercial resource dedicated to audiovisual production excellence. Its content covers broadcast studio design, camera control systems, professional lighting arrangements, sound engineering, and streamlined workflows for television networks and live events. The site exists to help production professionals, technical crews, freelance operators, broadcast engineers, educators and students understand how modern audiovisual systems are specified, integrated, operated and maintained.
The site promotes and, where offered, supplies paid training courses, workshops, downloadable reference material, consultancy sessions and related professional services. Some pages are therefore commercial in nature: they describe what we sell, the price of what we sell, and how to buy it. Other pages are purely informational. Both types of page form part of the same website and are governed by this legal information page, our Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy.
The site is intended for adults working in or studying the audiovisual, broadcast and live events industries. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Where a course or resource is suitable for younger learners, enrolment must be completed by a parent or guardian, and any personal data submitted belongs to the adult account holder.
5. Access to the Website and Acceptable Use
We grant you a personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access this website and to view its content for your own learning, research and professional development. Access is provided on an "as available" basis and may be suspended, restricted or withdrawn at any time for maintenance, security or operational reasons.
When using the site you agree that you will not:
- copy, scrape, harvest, mirror, frame or systematically extract any part of the site or its content, whether manually or by automated means such as crawlers, bots or data extraction tools, without our prior written consent;
- use the site in any way that breaches applicable law, infringes the rights of any person, or is fraudulent, misleading or harmful;
- interfere with, probe, scan or attempt to circumvent the security, authentication or access-control features of the site, or introduce any virus, malware, denial-of-service code or other harmful material;
- share account credentials, course access, enrolment links or downloadable resources with any other person, or resell, sublicense, rent or republish paid course material in any form;
- remove, obscure or alter any copyright notice, trade mark, watermark, attribution or authorship statement contained in the site or in any course material;
- upload, post or transmit any content that is defamatory, discriminatory, obscene, confidential to a third party, or that you do not have the right to share;
- impersonate any person, or misrepresent your identity, qualifications or affiliation with any organisation.
If you breach these rules we may suspend or terminate your access, cancel any unpaid or unfulfilled orders, and take such other steps as are proportionate, including informing law enforcement where the conduct appears to be criminal. Termination for breach does not entitle you to a refund of sums already paid for content that has been supplied, but it does not affect any statutory rights you hold as a consumer.
5.1 Course Enrolment and Account Security
Each enrolment is issued to a single named learner. You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for all activity that takes place under your account. If you become aware of any unauthorised use of your account, please tell us immediately at info@dramabydesign.com so that we can secure the account and, where appropriate, reissue access.
6. Intellectual Property: Content, Trade Marks and Permitted Use
Unless stated otherwise, all intellectual property rights in this website and in the material published on it are owned by us or licensed to us. This includes the text of articles and guides, course scripts and workbooks, diagrams and signal-flow drawings, photographs, video and audio recordings, technical illustrations, page layouts, source code, databases and the selection and arrangement of the content as a whole.
Our company name, brand names, logos, course titles and associated visual identity are trade marks or protected business identifiers. You may not use them in a way that suggests endorsement, partnership, sponsorship or affiliation without our prior written permission, and you may not use them in comparative advertising in a manner that is misleading or that takes unfair advantage of their reputation.
Subject to the licence granted in section 5, you may:
- view, read and stream content on the site for your own professional and educational use;
- print or download individual pages or resources offered for download, for your own internal reference;
- quote short extracts of our written content for the purposes of review, teaching, commentary or news reporting, provided the quotation is fair, accurate and accompanied by a clear acknowledgement of the source.
You may not reproduce, distribute, communicate to the public, adapt, translate, create derivative works from, sell or commercially exploit any substantial part of the site or its content without our written consent. Requests for commercial reuse, republication, translation, or use of our material in a training programme delivered by another organisation should be sent to info@dramabydesign.com. We will normally respond to such requests within ten working days.
If you believe that any material on this site infringes your copyright, database right, trade mark or other intellectual property right, please contact us at info@dramabydesign.com with details of the work concerned, the page or resource you believe is infringing, and evidence of your right or authority to act. We investigate all such notices promptly and will remove or amend material where a complaint is well founded.
7. Accuracy, Availability and Proportionate Limitations of Liability
We take reasonable care to ensure that the technical, editorial and commercial information published on this site is accurate and up to date at the time it is published. However, audiovisual technology, standards, regulations and industry practice change frequently, and the content on this site is provided for general information and education only. It does not constitute professional engineering advice, electrical safety certification, structural advice, legal advice or a specification for any particular project or venue.
We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure or free from viruses, or that any particular page, download or stream will always be available. We may suspend, withdraw, amend or restructure any part of the site without notice, including course content, sample files and reference material. Where a paid course is materially changed or withdrawn during a period you have paid for, we will offer a proportionate remedy, which may include extended access, substitute content or a partial refund.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied terms, conditions and warranties relating to the site and its free content, and we are not liable for any loss of profit, loss of business, loss of anticipated savings, loss of data, or any indirect or consequential loss arising out of or in connection with the use of this site. Where we are liable for direct loss, our total liability to any one visitor in connection with free use of the site is limited to one hundred pounds sterling.
Nothing in this legal information page excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, or for your statutory rights as a consumer. If you are a consumer, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives you rights that we cannot and do not exclude: services must be performed with reasonable care and skill, goods must be of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose, and digital content must be of satisfactory quality and as described.
We do not exclude liability for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of these terms where you are a consumer. In that case we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach; loss is foreseeable if it is obvious that it will happen or if, at the time the contract was made, both we and you knew it might happen.
8. External Links and Third-Party Content
This website may contain hyperlinks to websites and resources operated by third parties, such as equipment manufacturers, standards bodies, software vendors, industry associations and video hosting platforms. Those links are provided for convenience and reference only. They do not amount to an endorsement of the linked site, its operator, its products or its content, and we have no control over the availability, accuracy, security or privacy practices of third-party sites.
Where third-party content is embedded in a page — for example a video player, a live stream, a font library, a comment widget or an analytics script — that content is delivered by the third party and its terms of use and privacy notice apply to the interaction. If the embedded service sets cookies or similar technologies on your device, our Cookie Policy explains the position and offers you choices through the site-wide cookie banner. If you do not wish third-party content to load, please adjust your cookie preferences in the banner or block the service in your browser settings; some page features may then not work as intended.
If you believe that a link on this site points to unlawful, harmful or seriously misleading content, please report it to us at info@dramabydesign.com and we will review it promptly.
9. Privacy, Cookies and Related Policies
Several separate notices form part of the legal framework that applies to this website. They are available from the site navigation and from the links in the footer, and they should be read together with this page:
- Privacy Policy — explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, the lawful basis for each processing activity, how long we keep data, who we share it with, how we transfer data outside the United Kingdom where that is necessary, and the rights available to you under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
- Cookie Policy — explains the cookies and similar technologies used on the site, distinguishes strictly necessary cookies from analytics, preference and marketing cookies, and describes the choices available through the cookie banner and your browser settings.
- Terms and Conditions — sets out the contract between us and the purchaser of any course, workshop, consultancy package or other paid service, including enrolment, access, obligations, cancellation, liability and termination.
- Payment and Refund Policy — explains accepted payment methods, invoicing, VAT treatment, currency, refunds and the statutory cancellation rights described in section 10.
- Accessibility Statement — describes the steps we take to keep the site usable for people with disabilities and how to tell us about barriers you encounter.
- Acceptable Use Policy — expands on the rules in section 5 for learners, account holders and users of any interactive feature of the site.
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to be informed, to access your personal data, to rectification, to erasure, to restriction of processing, to data portability, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests, including profiling. You also have the right to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent. To exercise any of these rights, write to us at info@dramabydesign.com. We will respond within one month, and we will extend that period only where the law permits and the request is complex, in which case we will tell you why.
You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office, the United Kingdom's supervisory authority for data protection, if you believe that our processing of your personal data infringes the UK GDPR or the Data Protection Act 2018. We would ask you to contact us first so that we have the opportunity to put things right.
The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) govern our use of cookies and similar technologies, electronic marketing by email and telephone, and the security of communications networks. Specifically, we do not set non-essential cookies on your device unless you have given your consent through the cookie banner; we do not use pre-ticked boxes or treat continued browsing as consent; and we provide a straightforward way to accept or reject non-essential cookies, as well as to change your choice later.
10. Consumer Rights, Online Sales and Cancellation
When you buy a course, workshop, download or consultancy service from us as a consumer, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you a fourteen-day cancellation period that starts the day after the contract is concluded, unless an exception applies. We supply the pre-contract information required by those Regulations, including a description of the service, the total price inclusive of tax, our identity and contact details, the cancellation conditions and, where applicable, a model cancellation form.
The fourteen-day cancellation right does not apply, or ends early, in certain cases. In particular, if you ask us to begin supplying digital content such as streamed video, downloadable files or online course access within the cancellation period, the right to cancel that digital element ends once supply has begun, provided you gave your express consent to immediate supply and acknowledged that you would lose the cancellation right. Course places that are supplied on a fixed date, or services that are fully performed within the cancellation period with your agreement, are treated in the same way. The exact position for each purchase is set out in the Payment and Refund Policy and in the confirmation email you receive after ordering.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, services must be performed with reasonable care and skill, within a reasonable time where no date is agreed, and at a reasonable price where none was agreed. Digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for a particular purpose made known to us, and as described. Goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If a course or service does not meet these standards, you are entitled to ask us to repeat the service or to receive a price reduction, and in some circumstances to a full refund. Nothing in our Terms and Conditions restricts these statutory remedies.
Where the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 apply, we undertake to present prices, descriptions, qualifications, availability and commercial intent honestly, and not to omit material information that an average consumer would need in order to make an informed decision. If you believe that any information on this site is misleading, please tell us at info@dramabydesign.com so that we can correct it quickly.
11. Governing Law, Competent Courts and Dispute Resolution
This legal information page, the use of this website, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, are governed by the law of England and Wales. Subject to the paragraph below, the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
If you are a consumer resident in Scotland, you may bring proceedings in the courts of Scotland; if you are a consumer resident in Northern Ireland, you may bring proceedings in the courts of Northern Ireland. In each case you may also bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. Nothing in this section deprives you of the protection afforded to you by the mandatory rules of the law of the part of the United Kingdom in which you live.
Before starting formal proceedings, we ask that you raise the matter with us at info@dramabydesign.com. Most issues can be resolved quickly through a short written exchange. Where a dispute cannot be resolved in that way, we will consider, on a case-by-case basis, whether to agree to mediation or another form of alternative dispute resolution; we are not obliged to do so, and we will not impose ADR on you. Consumers who need free, independent advice about a dispute with a trader in the United Kingdom can approach Citizens Advice, and disputes about unfair commercial practices can be reported to Trading Standards.
12. Changes to This Legal Information Page and Last-Updated Date
We review this page regularly and will update it whenever our company details, the services we offer, the law or our internal practices change. The current version is always the one published on this page, and the date at the top of the page tells you when it was last revised. If a change is material — for example a change to our company registration details, our VAT status, our registered office, the identity of the operator, or the way in which disputes are handled — we will highlight the change on the site and, where we hold your contact details and the law requires it, notify you by email.
Continued use of the website after an updated version of this page has been published means that you accept the updated version. If you do not agree with a change, you should stop using the site; if you have paid for a course or service and the change materially affects your rights, you may contact us at info@dramabydesign.com to discuss the options available to you, including cancellation and a proportionate refund of any part of the service not yet supplied.
If any provision of this page is found to be unlawful, invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be treated as deleted and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. A failure by us to enforce any provision on one occasion does not amount to a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
